Julia Sokolovska: Ukraine's New Minister of Social Policy
Early Life and EducationJulia Sokolovska, at 34 years old, holds an impressive educational background. She holds degrees from the Kyiv National Economic University, the National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine, and the University of Vienna. Additionally, she has completed a program at the IMF's Institute for Capacity Development.
Career
Sokolovska boasts a long and distinguished career in public service. Prior to her appointment as Minister of Social Policy, she held a position as an advisor at the Ministry of Finance. She has also served as the Director of the Department of Social Sphere Budget Expenses at the Ministry of Finance, Director of the Department of Strategic Planning at the Cabinet of Ministers Secretariat, and worked on a USAID Deloitte Project for healthcare reform.
Property and Finances
According to her 2017 financial disclosure statement, Sokolovska owns two apartments in Kyiv and Khmelnyk, Vinnytsia Oblast, as well as a 0.1-hectare plot of land. Her declared income includes 124,620 hryvnias in salary, 538,784 hryvnias from entrepreneurial activities, 10,385 hryvnias in deposits at PrivatBank, and 500 hryvnias in interest from a deposit at Oschadbank.
