Vagif Guliyev: National Hero of Azerbaijan
Early Life and EducationVagif Guliyev was born on September 20, 1955, in the village of Kumlak in the Jabrayil region of the Azerbaijan SSR. He graduated from secondary school in 1972 and enrolled in the military in 1974.
Military Career
Guliyev served in Uzbekistan and Russia, distinguishing himself in the battle for Agdam. He left the military in 2002 with the rank of Senior Lecturer at the Azerbaijan Higher Military School.
Post-Military Life
In 1996, Guliyev taught at the military department of Baku State University. He married and continued to serve as a lecturer in the military field.
National Heroism
In honor of his bravery and dedication, Guliyev was awarded the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan by presidential decree on October 9, 1994.
