Biography of Valeriy Horoshkovskyi
Valeriy Horoshkovskyi, born on January 1, 1969 in Kyiv, is a Ukrainian politician, economist, and businessman. He has held various significant positions in both the government and the private sector throughout his career.
Early Life and Education
Valeriy Horoshkovskyi completed his education at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, graduating from the Faculty of Law in 1994. Following his graduation, he entered the business sector and began working in various entrepreneurial endeavors.
Political Career
In 1996, Horoshkovskyi became a member of the New Democracy Party (NDP). Two years later, he was elected as a member of the Verkhovna Rada, the national parliament of Ukraine, representing the third convocation. In 2001, he founded a political alliance called the Team of Winter Generation (KOP) which received 2.02% of the votes in the 2002 elections.
In August 2002, Horoshkovskyi was appointed as the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine. From 2002 to 2004, he served as the Minister of Economy and European Integration of Ukraine and was also a member of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine during this period.
Business Ventures
Horoshkovskyi is known for his involvement in various business ventures. He founded the Merks Group, a conglomerate of companies, and held positions such as the Executive Director of Eurasia Holding since 2004. He also served as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of NAK Naftogaz Ukraine, the national oil and gas company, starting from 2003. Additionally, since 2006, he has been the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the media company "Inter."
Later Career
In December 2007, Horoshkovskyi was appointed as the Chairman of the State Customs Service of Ukraine. He has also earned a Doctor of Economic Sciences degree, highlighting his expertise in the field of economics.
