Early Life and Education

Veronika Remišová was born on May 31, 1976 in Žilina, Czechoslovakia. She graduated with honors from the VŠMU Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, earning a master's degree and a doctorate in arts (ArtD.). She also holds an additional master's degree from the University of Paris IV Sorbonne and the Collége d´Études Interdisciplinaires in Brussels. Additionally, she obtained a Cert.H.E. from a UK college.

Career in the European Commission

From 2004 to 2013, Remišová worked at the European Commission, where she led the "Youth in Action" non-formal education program.

Political Career

Member of Parliament

Remišová entered politics as a member of the Ordinary People party. She was elected to the National Council in the 2016 parliamentary elections and served until 2020. In 2019, she joined the Za ľudí party founded by former Slovak President Andrej Kiska. She was re-elected to the National Council as a representative of Za ľudí in 2020.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister

On March 21, 2020, Remišová became Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investment and Regional Development in the Matovič cabinet. She also briefly served as interim Minister of Justice from March 23 to April 1, 2021.

Leader of Za ľudí

On August 8, 2020, Remišová was elected leader of the Za ľudí party.
Vice-Premier and Minister in Heger's Cabinet

On April 1, 2021, Remišová was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investment and Regional Development in the Heger cabinet.

Other Activities

Remišová has also held positions in academia, including teaching at the Comenius University in Bratislava and the Catholic University in Ružomberok. She served as a councilor in the Bratislava's Staré Mesto district from 2014 to 2018.
