Viktor Evgrafovich Shudegov: A Russian Political Figure

Early Life and Education

Viktor Evgrafovich Shudegov was born on December 5, 1952, in the village of Tortym, Ketsky District, Udmurt ASSR. In 1975, he graduated from the Udmurt State University with a degree in Physics. He then pursued a research internship at the Leningrad State University of the USSR Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education from 1975 to 1976.

Academic Career

From 1980 to 1990, Shudegov worked as an engineer-electronics specialist, assistant, senior lecturer, and associate professor at the Udmurt State University. He continued his higher education in 1990 by enrolling in the doctoral program at the Leningrad State University.

Political Career

In 1994, Shudegov became a professor and head of the Department of Physics and Mechanics of New Materials at the Udmurt State University. He also served as the rector of the Institute of Regiopology and as the vice rector for scientific research. From 1999 to 2000, he held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Udmurt Republic, overseeing several ministries.

In 2000, Shudegov was appointed as the Chairman of the State Committee of the Udmurt Republic for Science, Higher and Secondary Vocational Education. From April 17, 2001, he became the Representative of the Government of the Udmurt Republic in the Federation Council. He held this role until October 2004.

Science, Culture, and Education

Shudegov served as the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Culture, Education, Healthcare, and Ecology until 2007. He was also a member of the Federation Council Commission on the Methodology of Implementing the Constitutional Powers of the Federation Council. In December 2007, he became Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education.

Accomplishments and Honors

Shudegov is a Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and a Professor. He is proficient in German and has authored over 160 scientific publications. His research contributions have focused on the normative-technical and innovative activities in science and higher education.
