Early Career
1997-1999: Shakhtar Makyivka and Shakhtar-2 DonetskRoman Zaichuk began his professional career with Makyivka-based Shakhtar in 1997, plying his trade in the Ukrainian First League. He made his debut in November 1997 and spent two seasons with the club. In 1999, he moved to Shakhtar-2 Donetsk, where he played sparingly.
1999-2003: Mashynobudivnyk Druzhkivka and Elektron Romny
Zaichuk spent three years with Mashynobudivnyk Druzhkivka in the Ukrainian Second League, registering 51 appearances and scoring four goals. He then had a brief stint with Elektron Romny before joining Arsenal Kharkiv in 2003, lured by coach Vladimir Parkomenko.
2003-2006: Arsenal Kharkiv and Kharkiv
At Arsenal Kharkiv, Zaichuk established himself as a regular, playing 53 games and scoring six goals. He was instrumental in the team's promotion to the Ukrainian Premier League in 2005. However, after Arsenal's transformation into Kharkiv, he found himself on the sidelines, making only one league appearance.
2006-2017: Naftovyk-Ukrnafta Akhtyrka
Zaichuk joined Naftovyk-Ukrnafta Akhtyrka in 2006, becoming a key player in their First League triumph in 2007. The team gained promotion to the Premier League, but they were relegated after one season. Zaichuk left Naftovyk in 2017.
2018-Present: Helios Kharkiv
In January 2018, Zaichuk returned to Kharkiv, joining Helios, where he remains a valuable contributor.
