Biography of Vladislav Augustin Stasiak

Vladislav Augustin Stasiak was a Polish politician and the head of the Office of the President of Lech Kaczynski from 2009 to 2010. He graduated from the History Faculty of the University of Wroclaw and the National School of Public Administration.

From 1993 to 2002, Stasiak worked in the Supreme Audit Office, including as the Deputy Director of the Department of National Defense and National Security. In November 2002, he became the Deputy Mayor of Warsaw under Lech Kaczynski. From November 2, 2005, to May 31, 2006, he served as the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration. He then became the State Secretary of the Ministry and held this position until August 24, 2006, when he assumed the role of the Head of the National Security Bureau (Biuro Bezpieczeństwa Narodowego, BBN) and the Secretary of the National Security Council (Rada Bezpieczeństwa Narodowego, RBN).

From August 8, 2007, to November 16, 2007, Stasiak served as the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration in the government of Jaroslaw Kaczynski. On November 19, 2007, he once again became the head of the National Security Bureau. On January 15, 2009, he left this position and became the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office. On July 27 of the same year, he was appointed as the head of the Presidential Office, replacing Piotr Kovnacki.

Tragically, Stasiak died in an airplane crash in Smolensk on April 10, 2010. He was posthumously awarded the Order of the Rebirth of Poland with a Star in 2010.
