Early Life and Education

Yaël Braun-Pivet was born in Nancy, France on December 7, 1970. She earned a master's degree in private law from the University of Western Paris - Nanterre La Défense. Braun-Pivet was admitted to the Paris Bar Association and later became a member of the Hauts-de-Seine Bar Association.

Legal Career

Braun-Pivet practiced law for seven years, specializing in criminal law at the prestigious law firm Hervé Temime. She later founded a law firm in Neuilly-sur-Seine alongside two partners.

Overseas Experiences

In 2003, Braun-Pivet moved with her family to Taipei, Taiwan, where her husband worked for L'Oréal. In 2005, they relocated to Tokyo, Japan, where she served as treasurer for the local chapter of the French Socialist Party and gave birth to two more children. The family eventually moved to Portugal in 2010 and returned to France in 2012.

Political Career

Parliamentary Elections

On June 18, 2017, Braun-Pivet ran as a candidate for La République En Marche! in the 5th constituency of Yvelines. She won with 58.99% of the vote, defeating incumbent Republican Jacques Myard.

Ministerial Appointment

On May 20, 2022, Braun-Pivet was appointed Minister of Overseas Territories in the government of Élisabeth Borne.

National Assembly Elections

On June 19, 2022, Braun-Pivet was re-elected to her constituency with 64.62% of the vote, defeating Socialist candidate Sophie Thévenet.

President of the National Assembly

On June 28, 2022, Braun-Pivet was elected President of the National Assembly. She received 238 votes in the first round and 242 votes in the second round, defeating National Rally candidate Sébastien Chenu.
