Early Life and Education
Yuriy Koryavchenkov was born on November 26, 1974, in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine. The son of an engineer and a neurologist, he pursued his interest in basketball at a young age. While in high school, he gained practical experience in the medical field by working as a nurse in a hospital's surgical department, aiming to become a surgeon.
After graduating from Kryvyi Rih school No. 45, Koryavchenkov briefly worked as an apprentice electrical mechanic before completing his studies at Kryvyi Rih Technical University as an electrical engineer. In 2004, he obtained a second degree in economics from the Kryvyi Rih Economic Institute of the Kyiv National Economic University.
Career in Comedy and Politics
Koryavchenkov's involvement in comedy began in 1995 when he joined the "Student Springs" competition with the STEM team "Short Circuit." He also played for the "Kryvyi Rih Rowdies" team before merging with the "Siberian Warriors" from Kemerovo to form the "50x50" team, which participated in the 1996 Higher League.
Alongside Oleksandr Pikalov, Koryavchenkov played for the "Dnipropetrovsk National Team." They later joined the "Kryvyi Rih National Team," the predecessor to the legendary "95th Quarter" KVN team.
Following his university graduation, Koryavchenkov worked at the Central Mining and Enrichment Plant from 1997 to 2003, holding various positions including electrical mechanic, supervisor, engineer, and deputy chair of the trade union. After that, he became an actor and administrative director at the "95th Quarter" studio and a participant in the "Evening Quarter" show.
In 2019, Koryavchenkov headed the election campaign of Volodymyr Zelensky in Kryvyi Rih. He subsequently won a seat in the Ukrainian Parliament as a representative of the "Servant of the People" party.
Political Controversies
During his tenure as a member of parliament, Koryavchenkov has been involved in several controversies. In one instance, he distributed tickets to an "Evening Quarter" concert during a parliamentary session, which received media attention. In another incident, a video emerged that allegedly showed Koryavchenkov and other "Servant of the People" deputies instructing police officers to follow their orders.
Despite these controversies, Koryavchenkov remains the chairman of the Kryvyi Rih city organization of the "Servant of the People" party. In 2020, he declined to run for mayor of Kryvyi Rih, endorsing Dmytro Shevchyk instead.
Family Life
Yuriy Koryavchenkov has been married to Tatyana Korayvchenkova (née Pisarevskaya) since 2006. They have three children together: Andrei, Margarita, and Mariana. Kseniya Kosheva, wife of comedian Evgeny Koshevoy, is the godmother of Yuriy's daughter, while Sergei Kravets, husband of comedian Viktor Kravets, is the godfather of his other daughter. Yuriy is also the godfather of Evgeny Koshevoy's daughter.
