Early Life and Education
Branislav Lečić was born on August 25, 1955, in Šabac, SFR Yugoslavia (now Serbia). He graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts at the University of Belgrade in 1978, earning his acting degree.

Theatrical Career
Lečić has had a successful theatrical career, winning several awards for his performances. He is a co-founder of some of the most important theater companies that influenced the Yugoslav theater scene. Since 1980, he has been a member of the Yugoslav Drama Theatre.

Political Involvement
Besides his acting career, Lečić has been actively involved in Serbian politics. He led the Plush Revolution during the rule of Slobodan Milošević. After the victory of the opposition coalition DOS in the 2000 presidential election, Lečić was appointed Minister of Culture in the government of Zoran Đinđić.
Founding and Departure from LDP
Following Čedomir Jovanović's departure from the Democratic Party of Serbia, Lečić joined him and founded the opposition Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). However, he later left LDP and established the movement My Serbia, which contested the 2008 Serbian elections. In early 2010, his party merged into the Christian Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS).
Film Career
Lečić has acted in numerous films, including Goran Marković's "Special Education" (1977), "Promising Boy" (1981), and "Direct Transmission" (1982). Other notable films featuring Lečić include "Wild Wind," "Life with Uncle," "Oktoberfest," "Battle of Kosovo," "Deaf Gunpowder," and "Caruga."
Recent Activities
From 2000 to 2008, Lečić appeared in several films and television series. He has also participated in the documentary film "The Weight of Chains" (2011).
