Ferdje Werkhoven, a distinguished Dutch footballer, embarked on his professional career with FC Utrecht in 1991.
Early Career at Utrecht
Werkhoven's debut match for Utrecht took place on September 14, 1991, against FC Twente, resulting in a 1-1 draw. Throughout his five seasons with the club, he accumulated 117 appearances and scored 4 goals.
Venturing Abroad
In 1996, Werkhoven joined Vitesse Arnhem for a single season, making 30 appearances and scoring once. The following summer, he embarked on a journey to Spain, signing with CD Tenerife. Over two years in Spain, he featured in 32 matches and netted one goal. During the 1998-1999 winter transfer window, Werkhoven returned to the Netherlands and joined AFC Ajax.
Triumphs with Ajax
Werkhoven's 8 appearances in his first season with Ajax culminated in a Dutch Cup victory. In 2002, he reached the pinnacle of his career, securing both the Eredivisie title and the Dutch Cup.
International Recognition
