Biography of Julia Marty
Early Life and Career in SwitzerlandJulia Marty is a Swiss ice hockey player and a member of the Swiss national hockey team. She is also known for her performances with the Northeastern University team in Boston, Massachusetts. Before her international success, Marty made a name for herself playing in the top league in Switzerland for EV Zug from 2003 to 2007. She was chosen as a part of the All-Star team in 2005 and represented EV Zug in the European Cup of Champions in 2004, where the team finished in third place. Marty also played for other teams, including DHC Langenthal and EHC Wettingen-Baden.
College Career and International Success
Marty began her professional career at the University of New Hampshire, where she played defense for one season in 2007-2008. During this time, she scored 3 goals and provided 7 assists in 31 games. In 2012, Marty represented Switzerland in the IIHF Women's World Championship and helped her team secure a victory against Russia with 2 points (1 goal and 1 assist). She continued to excel in the 2008-2009 season, setting personal records for goals and assists in just 25 games, finishing with 4 goals and 13 assists.
Success with Northeastern Huskies
In the 2010-2011 season, Marty played for the Northeastern Huskies, where she had an interesting match against Syracuse on October 1, 2010. This game was special because it was the first time that Marty played against her twin sister, Stefanie Marty, who was on the Syracuse team at that time. Julia Marty scored her first goal of the season on October 24, 2010, and also provided three assists in the same game, earning a total of 4 points. This performance was considered a record for the Huskies, with the last similar achievement achieved by Chelsey Jones in 2006.
International Achievements
Marty represented Switzerland in the 2012 Women's World Championship, where her team won the bronze medal. In the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Switzerland once again secured the bronze medal, completing the same podium as in the previous World Championship. Marty and her teammates fought hard against the Swedish team to claim the bronze.
Despite mainly earning bronze medals in major international competitions, Julia Marty's performances demonstrate her talent and ability to compete at the highest level.
