Queen Rania of Jordan is one of the most beautiful and popular royal figures in the world. She is the wife of King Abdullah II of Jordan.

Early Life and Marriage

Queen Rania was born in 1970 in Kuwait. At the age of 23, she met Prince Abdullah bin Al-Hussein (at that time a prince) during a reception, and this meeting changed both of their lives. Just two months later, in March 1993, they announced their engagement and had a lavish wedding in June 1993. At that time, Abdullah was not the crown prince, and it was expected that the throne would be inherited by his older brother, Prince Hussein. Therefore, as Queen Rania herself says, it was easier for her to adapt to palace life, learn all the traditions, and adjust to the new environment and circumstances. She mentioned that the expectations placed on them as a prince and princess who would not inherit the throne were less strict than those placed on the older couple, allowing them to keep some aspects of their personal life out of the media. They have four children - Hussein, Iman, Salma, and Hashem.

Becoming Queen

However, in 1999, when tragedy struck the family - the death of King Hussein of Jordan, the world was shocked by another news. Contrary to tradition, King Hussein appointed Abdullah as his successor instead of his eldest son, Prince Hassan. This meant that Rania automatically became the Queen - the youngest Queen ever to ascend the throne, and one of the most attractive.

The new position brought with it new responsibilities. However, both King Abdullah and his beautiful wife are not afraid of challenges. Queen Rania is considered one of the most passionate defenders of women's rights in the Middle East. She devotes a lot of time to charity work, especially helping children's foundations.
