Early Life and Education

Born on April 5, 1969, in Narimanli, Armenia, Shovgiyar Abdullaev excelled in his studies. He graduated with honors from Narimanli Secondary School in 1986 and enrolled in the Azerbaijan State Polytechnic Institute (now Technical University).

Military Service

After completing his first year of university, Abdullaev was drafted into the Soviet Army. He served in Mongolia and returned to Baku in 1989.

Joining the National Army

In 1992, Abdullaev volunteered for the Azerbaijani National Army. He rose quickly to the position of tank platoon commander in Agdam.

Frontline Combat

Abdullaev's brigade defended strategic positions in Abdal-Gulabli, participated in battles for Papravend, Pirjamal, and Aranzamin. On August 23, the brigade was deployed to Mardakert.

Heroic Sacrifice

In the fierce fighting for the village of Drombon, Abdullaev's tank was repeatedly attacked. He sustained severe injuries to both legs and was evacuated to a hospital in Agdam. Recovering partially, he returned to the front. On August 27, 1992, while protecting his comrades, Abdullaev fell in battle.

Posthumous Honor

By Presidential Decree No. 457 on February 5, 1993, Shovgiyar Abdullaev was posthumously awarded the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan.

Legacy

Abdullaev is buried in the Alley of Martyrs in Baku. His bravery and sacrifice are remembered and honored by the Azerbaijani people.
